ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
International students who fall within categories listed below (Points 1-7) can:
a. Apply to study in Polish for free after meeting given criteria under each specific programme
b. Or apply for limited spots to study in English for free in specific programmes.
- Polish citizens, citizens of the European Union (EU), Swiss Confederation, or European Free Trade Association states (EFTA) – signatories of the European Economic Area Agreement, along with their family members residing in the Republic of Poland.
- Foreigners holding a permanent residence permit or a long-term EU residence permit.
- Foreigners granted a temporary residence permit in Poland due to circumstances specified in Articles 159(1) or Article 186(1) subsections 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners.
- Foreigners with refugee status granted by the Republic of Poland and those given temporary protection or subsidiary protection in Poland.
- Individuals holding the C1 level certificate in the Polish language issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.
- Holders of a valid Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka) or the administrative decision on Polish origin.
- Spouses, children, and parents of a Polish citizen residing in the territory of Poland.
International students may be eligible for a tuition fee waiver according to the terms specified in agreements between universities or international agreements. A waiver can also be granted under the following conditions:
a. The decision of the University Rector (UMCS Best Applicant Contest), the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, or the head of a research center.
b. The decision of the Minister or the Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in the case of scholarship recipients.
