Human being – cells, organs, organisms and processes in health and disease
The programme is dedicated mainly to international applicants. Our Bachelor’s degree in Science (BSc) Medical Biology programme has been designed as an academic bridge (premedical studies) for students interested in pursuing a career as a physician, who have never before taken introductory natural sciences courses. The programme advances students’ knowledge necessary for entry into the professional programmes in medicine and helps them to fulfil the MD programme requirements.
These undergraduate studies offer also a broad-basis curriculum in biology underlying the basic training for professional biologists, biochemists, microbiologists, and biophysicists as well as provide a strong foundation for many other career opportunities. The learning outcomes provide our graduates with the professional skills and knowledge required for work in medical laboratories, research institutions, sanitary-epidemiological stations, and science-based industries.
The graduate of the BSc Medical Biology programme knows basic disciplines of biology and biomedical sciences, including microbiology, human anatomy, parasitology, genetics with elements of human genetics, radiology, elements of pathophysiology, basics of pharmacology, biochemistry of nutrition, applied biology in medicine, biological basics of phytotherapy, physical basis of instrumental diagnostics and physiotherapy, human immunology with elements of virology, pharmacological botany, biomaterial engineering in medicine, and biochemical methods in clinical analysis.
Training is given through: lectures, exercises, laboratory classes, field classes as well as experimental scientific-practical training. The best internationally recognized scientists of the University belong to the teaching staff for this programme.
The Medical Biology BSc programme complies with European teaching standards. Therefore, our graduates may choose to continue studying at the master degree level at UMCS or elsewhere in Poland or in the European Union countries.
The study programme does not include internship.
Job opportunities
A Bachelor’s degree in science provides strong transferable skills for a variety of careers. Our graduates would enter biology, biotechnology and technology related careers in scientific or engineering research and development, in science-based industries, medical biology and in teaching.

You will meet students from all over the world and reputable international team of academic teachers and researchers. Moreover, in frame of student exchange programmes (e.g. Erasmus+) you can spend one semester studying at universities abroad (including in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, and Turkey).
Specially after specialization Medical Biology:
- You will acquire the knowledge and skills to apply biological achievements in modern medicine.
- You will learn in theory and practice the principles of premedical first aid.
The program is open to all applicants, both national and international students, intending to pursue studies on a fee-paying basis.

- Admission is open to both Polish citizens and international students. NB: Polish and EU citizens as well as other candidates following the regulations pertaining to Polish citizens can study free of charge within the set limit of available places. There are 2 places offered without the tuition fee for such candidates. Furthermore, admission will be granted on a “first come, first served” basis until available vacancies have been filled.
- The highest final grade in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics scored in secondary school leaving examination.
- The programme is offered on I TUITION FEE-PAYING BASIS I – I TERMS OF ADMISSION HEREI to candidates holding a high school diploma or any other equivalent degree which entitles them to undertake the Bachelor’s degree programme in the country where the documents were issued.

- Registration is open within the admission period and until all the available vacancies are filled.
- Academic documents should be translated into Polish. Visit the database of recognized sworn translators in Poland HERE.
- An official Individual Recognition certificate issued by a competent Polish state authority is required for documents issued outside of the territory of Poland – NB- Contact the Admissions office for guidance on applicability of this requirement.
- The required registration fee payment is PLN 85. Please check the instructions on how to make a payment in the system.

1) Create an account in the recruitment portal and fill in the required fields,
2) Scan and attach each document listed below separately into the recruitment portal – PERSONAL FORMS -> EDUCATION (Each document Must be PDF Format not more than 3MBs;
- Academic documents: Higher secondary/high school original certificates with transcript of records (Apostille or legalized copies for international students) along with the eligibility statement. If the documents are issued in a different language other than English/Polish we require a translation. NB: When you pass the high school examination in Poland please include the Polish Matura certificate.
- Language proficiency certificate demonstrating the applicant’s English language expertise (REFER TO THE LIST OF RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATES)
- Passport bio page with clear details.
- Confirmation of payment for the APPLICATION FEE (mandatory)
- General medical certificate affirming the candidate’s good health, applicable to those pursuing BSc Biology -Medical Biology,
- Candidate Profile Form:
– Complete the required fields in the portal,
– Download the candidate profile generated by the IRK application system,
– Print, fill in date, handwritten signature by the applicant.
3) Upload a recent passport size photograph with white or blue background in the designated photo tab in the recruitment portal.
