August 3, 2021 was a great day for Polish female athletes – especially for hammer throw competitors during the 32nd Summer Olympics in Tokyo! Anita Włodarczyk became the Olympic champion (for the third time), while Malwina Kopron, a student of the Faculty of Law and Administration at UMCS, finished the contest with a bronze medal.
In order to ensure the bronze medal, Malwina Kopron a member of the AZS UMCS Lublin Club from Puławy, delivered back-to-back throws of 75.49m in the fifth and sixth rounds. Kopron gained 75.49 meters which is her best result this season.
– Two swings, four left turns and a throw – that’s how I did it! It was a very good competition. I was focused on what should be done. It was the best result of the season, but I know it can always be better! There were some lacks in my technique. I was ready for 77 meters, but of course I am happy with this medal, although I still do not believe that I have done it! – said Malwina Kopron for Eurosport after the competition.
The gold medal was claimed by another Polish athlete, Anita Włodarczyk, who outshone the competition to secure her third Olympic Games gold medal in women’s hammer throw.
